PRACTICAL JOB SEARCH GUIDES
How to compare local job adverts
Compare pay, location, hours and responsibilities before deciding which roles to explore.
Start with your practical needs
Decide which locations you can travel to, the hours you can work and the type of contract you want. A nearby role with suitable shifts may be a better fit than one with a higher headline salary and a difficult commute.
Read the pay information carefully
Check whether a figure is hourly or annual, whether it includes variable pay and whether a part-time salary is a full-time equivalent. If the advert leaves this unclear, ask the advertiser before relying on the figure.
Look beyond the job title
Compare the duties, required experience, workplace arrangements and available training. A title can mean different things at different employers. Keep a record of questions you want to ask.
Check the source before sharing details
Look for a clear company name and a way to understand who is advertising. Be cautious about requests for money or unnecessary personal information. An advert on a board is not, by itself, proof that an employer has been verified.
Use Jobvello’s filters
Browse professions and cities, then narrow by contract type and pay. The current demonstration ads illustrate the interface; they are not live opportunities and cannot receive applications.
